New Hook-Ups guildlines for Town Water

Our Province of BC Interior Health permit category is for a “Small Water System of 15 to 300 Hook-ups.”

In 2012, we attained the pre-set number of hook-ups that the membership chose as a limit before individual consultation was required.  That number was 190 hook-ups.

We are in the process of collecting volume and flow data to determine the future of Bass Creek and its ability to continue to provide water to the Seymour Arm Water Users’ Community.  At this time, we are not approving any new hook-ups until this data is collected.

Please be advised that SAWUC is not required to approve all requests for water hook-up.  The applicant may need to choose an alternate water source such as a well or sand point.

All new hook-up requests must be approved by the Board of Directors.

Once approved, the property owner must complete and submit two applications, one to Front Counter BC, and one to the Seymour Arm Water Users' Community, along with the appropriate funds.  Both applications and cheques must be returned to SAWUC for approval.

The current fees are: a $100.00 application fee payable to Minister of Finance, and $4,850.00 payable to Seymour Arm Water Users' Community (SAWUC). The amount of $4,850 is distributed between Member's Share cost at $3,000.00 and initial hook up fee at $1,850.00.

The annual fee thereafter is $300.00 which is generally billed in May.  This fee is distributed between operating costs of $250.00 and $50.00 is put towards a Capital Reserve Fund for future line improvements.

After appropriate paperwork is in place, the hook-up can be scheduled for a later date. Unless there is an emergency, we generally schedule any repairs and new hook-ups only once or twice a year.
